Summer has finally arrived and the sun exposure, heat and dry air can certainly wreak havoc on our skin. To help keep your skin healthy this summer here are 3 fun facials you can make yourself.
1. Exfoliant – Remove the dead or sun damaged cells built up on your skin with this simple skin scrub.
•1 part cornmeal
•1 part organic oatmeal
(for a softer scrub for sensitive skin, mix 1 part cornmeal and 2 parts organic oatmeal)
Directions –
•Dampen your face (or any part of your skin you wish to exfoliate) with warm water
•Take a handful of the above mixture and gently rub it on your skin
•If it feels too dry, add more warm water
•Rinse area with warm water
•Pat dry
•Moisturize with an antioxidant lotion which is a fantastic restorative and Burt’s Bees which also has great moisturizing products)
2. Cleansing Mask – Cleanse and tighten your pores with this simple green mask. The acidophilus and enzymes in this mix pull toxins and other pore clogging elements out of the skin. The blue-green algae directly nourishes the skin cells. This works well on other places on the body with skin problems like feet with itchy foot fungus.
•2 capsules acidophilus
•2 capsules enzymes
•2 capsules bluegreen algae
•Spring Water
Directions –
•Mix above ingredients to form a paste
•Apply evenly on your face, especially problem areas such as extra oily places
•Avoid putting paste around eyes
•Leave on until dry
•Rinse off with warm water
•Pat dry
•Moisturize
3. Moisturizing and Soothing Mask – A dry skin mask that will soothe and moisturize your face.
•2 egg whites
•2 tablespoons plain yogurt
Directions –
•Mix ingredients . Be sure to mix well
•Apply mixture to face
•Leave on for 2-4 minutes
•Rinse will with warm water
•Pat dry with soft washcloth
•Moisturize as needed
