Aaaaahh, money. Some say money makes the world go ’round while others say it’s love. Whatever makes the world go ’round, many of us would like to solve the money dilemma once and for all. While there’s certainly more to prosperity than money, the topic of money is where most of us start.
Money analysts and financial gurus will counsel you that the way you handle your money on the physical plane – such as how much you save, how you invest and how you budget – determines your level of prosperity. Spiritual teachers, on the other hand, will tell you that it’s how you handle your spiritual life that determines your level of prosperity. So which is it? Is the money problem solved by physical or spiritual means?
The answer is, both. That means that you can find the solution on either the spiritual or physical planes, depending on your situation. For instance, if you’re doing all the right things on the physical plane (such as not living beyond your means) but you can’t seem to get ahead, you need to work from the spiritual level. Check if you have a feeling of constriction when you think about money, or if you are afraid to spend your money. Does your stomach do flip-flops when you spend money? Or are you just not that excited about anything?
Usually, if you’re doing all the right things on the physical plane but not getting any more prosperous, it’s because there’s a lack of flow in your life. Focus on developing a generous heart toward life and strive to expand your emotional range. Focus on things that excite you and make you feel good. By expanding your flow on the spiritual level, you will also expand your monetary flow on the physical level.
Conversely, if you’re living beyond your means on the physical level, cleaning up your physical finances is often the best place to start. Chances are that you aren’t feeling too good on the spiritual level, and every new bill or expense tends to make you feel worse. While spiritual leaders will tell you to change the way you feel, it’s often hard to do that when you’re drowning in debt. If you do what you can to clean up the physical plane first, you’ll find that your spirits will also rise.
It all boils down to this: sometimes you have to change what’s happening on the physical plane to affect the way you think and feel, and other times you have to change the way you think and feel to affect the what’s happening on the physical plane. Whichever route you choose, know that the law of “as above, so below” guarantees that when you solve the problem on one level, it will be solved on all other levels. Good luck!
